One indulgence in a life spent caring for others. Tethered to an oxygen tank, she was often left behind. Until she left us behind.

This week’s Red Writing Hood prompt was to write a story as a tweet–in 140 characters or less. This is a story I have wanted to tell, but didn’t feel like it was mine. Somehow keeping it to tweet length made it easier.
Wow Tracy. This was powerful.
Thanks, Roxanne. I loved yours!
Your ¨tweet¨gave me the chills. That´s a good writing prompt but I don´t think I could do it. I´m far too wordy.
Tracy, we have at least two things in common: our name and wordiness! I found this prompt refreshing, because it forced me to be brief!
Ooh. This is eerie. And so very sad.
Thanks, Cheryl!
Tracy, you killed this one. Oh, my gosh. I’ve found plenty of responses that I’ve loved today, but your’s is one of my favorites by far. I love the twinge of darkness and the sadness of the piece. That last line really packs a punch.
Thanks, that means a lot coming from you, Katie.
So, so sad.
And a titch eery?
Love it!
Thanks, Galit!
The problem with all of these wonderful posts to this prompt is that I want more! I want a sequel to let me back into her life!
Very powerful. Great post.
Thank you, Abby, I really appreciate that.
heart-wrenching for sure.
Thanks, Elaine. I appreciate the visit.
ugh. ouch. this is a heavy one. Great writing!
I wanted to write something funny, but this just came out. Thanks, Jenna!
So sad.
Yep. I never get any less sad about it.
Oh, this just is in perfect tune with the week I have had caring for my elderly mother and watching her moving closer to the end than I anticipated. Beautiful.
Thanks, May. So sorry about your Mom.
Ohhh… so sad. =(
I love how you captured everything so simply..
Thanks, Denelle!
Is this about Dave’s mom??
Yep. I wanted to write a funny tweet, but for some reason this came out instead. Smoking really sucks.
How sad. This caused many feelings for me.
Well done
Thanks, Renee. It still causes feelings for me too.
Heartbreaking. Nicely done.
Thanks, Karen!
Wow, that’s powerful.
Thanks, I loved your puppy tweet!
This one made me sad. Left behind. It is a powerful image.
Thanks for reading!
Sometimes less words say more.
Thanks, Cynthia. It was easier to write about this with such a drastic character limit.
