I’d say we have the worst mail carrier ever, except:
a.) we don’t actually have a mail carrier (the one time we actually complained to the person who delivered our mail, he said that no one was officially responsible for our route. He was just filling in, which of course explains why none of the carriers servicing our route can read)
and
2.) every time I think something can’t be worse, I find out how much worse it can be, so I’m going to play it safe and assume there are worse mail carriers.
We routinely get mail addressed to our neighbors one street over with the same house number. At least a couple of days a week, we receive their junk mail, catalogs, bills, and in early December, two of their packages.
Sometimes we deliver the mail ourselves, sometimes I actually re-mail it. One time I dropped an envelope addressed to our neighbors back into a nearby USPS mailbox, only to find it re-delivered to us a couple of days later. I shit you not. If you love something, set it free…
I was so pissed about the second package, I left it on the hood of the mail truck when I noticed it still parked near my house.
But the best errant delivery was yet to come. The problems run deep at the USPS. We apparently now get all mail involving our house number…
Come on, this shit is international. Even if I could get past the overlooked airmail stamp and decide they misread WI to mean Wisconsin rather than West Indies, I live in Virginia.
Seriously. Are they even trying anymore? It also makes you wonder what mail YOU’RE not getting because of those mental midgets. Ugh. Good luck with that…
I’ve actually been late paying our gas bill a couple of times, because those months I didn’t actually receive a gas bill. I set up all my bills to remind me online when I have to pay.
LOL. As annoying as that must be for you, it’s pretty funny. And the postal service wonders why people don’t want to use them…
Hi Emily-I may have squealed a little when I saw you commented–I love your blog!
Yeah, I don’t think the postal service is long for this world.
Oh my gosh…this makes me even more grateful for our letter carrier.
I briefly wondered if this happened because we don’t provide a holiday tip…but he’s not just screwing with us when he delivers other people’s mail here. And there’s no way I’m tipping when we don’t have a regular person and all of them mess up the mail.
I think I can one-up you on this. Our mail carrier loves to crumple every piece of mail before savagely shoving it into the postage-stamp-sized mail boxes at my apartment complex. The manager has complained to the post office, we’ve all signed a petition given to the post office, I personally have gone to the post office, showing them the results of this guy’s delivery habits….yet to no avail. The post office appears to be too scared of this guy to even transfer him to a different route (are there tell-tail signs in determining who us liable to go postal?). Sooooo, the only time I receive my mail in one piece is when another carrier is substituting for this yahoo. So much for the request to “…not fold, spindle, or mutilate”……
OK, you got me. My biggest nagging concern is what Abby said–how much mail are we not getting (i.e. how much of my mail is being delivered to Trinidad?)?
